Distillation Technologies Request Access

Privacy

Short, because there is very little to describe. No account to create, nothing to buy, and no form that sends anything anywhere.

This site is a static set of files. It has no database, no login, no shopping basket, and no working contact form. The only thing that collects anything is Google Analytics, and it does nothing at all unless you agree to it.

What runs by default

Nothing that identifies you. Analytics is loaded with consent defaulted to denied, using Google Consent Mode. In that state it sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. If you decline, or simply ignore the bar, it stays that way.

If you accept

Google Analytics 4 records which pages are viewed, roughly where in the world the visit came from, and what kind of device and browser was used. IP addresses are anonymised. It sets cookies so repeat visits are not double counted.

It exists so we know which of the Learning Center articles people read. That is the whole purpose.

What we do not do

  • No advertising, no advertising cookies, no remarketing
  • No profiling and no automated decisions about you
  • No selling or sharing of data with anyone
  • No email list, no newsletter, no tracking pixels
  • No third-party embeds, no social widgets, no comment system
  • No fonts, scripts or images loaded from anyone else's servers

That last one is worth stating plainly: every asset on this site is served from this domain. Analytics is the single exception, and only with your agreement.

Changing your mind

Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage under the key dt-consent, not in a cookie and not on any server. To change it, use cookie choice, which is also linked at the bottom of every page. Clearing your browser data removes it entirely and you will be asked again.

Server logs

The web host keeps standard access logs, which include IP addresses, timestamps and requested URLs. This is ordinary web server operation rather than anything we have configured, it is retained by the host under their own schedule, and it is not linked to analytics or used to build any profile.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or the EU, the GDPR gives you rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. In practice there is unlikely to be anything to exercise them against, because nothing here is stored against an identity. If you believe otherwise, write to the address below and we will tell you honestly what exists.

The lawful basis for analytics is your consent, which you may withdraw at any time using the link above.

This site is run by Brian Galvan. Reach me on LinkedIn, which is the fastest route.

Distillation Technologies is a work of satire and is not a real company. The addresses and contact routes described on the rest of this site are invented. This page is not.
